Position Description:
The Robinson Center (RC) is seeking candidates to teach classes for highly interested and motivated students in the Saturday Enrichment Program. The quarterly program will serve students currently in the K-8th grade. This position involves curriculum development, class instruction, supervision of a teaching assistant, and working with the Robinson Center staff on activities related to dissemination.
2022-23 Saturday Dates:
Fall Quarter: October 1 - November 19
Winter Quarter: January 21 - March 18 (no class 2/18)
Spring Quarter: April 1 - May 20
Compensation: Instructors will be paid $560 per class (Eight 50-minute class sessions) for the entire body of work, with the ability to teach up to 3 classes per quarter. This reflects an hour of planning time for each hour of class time, at $35/hr. Any training or orientation time will be paid at the same rate.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Course development and instruction;
- Preparation of course materials, syllabi, lectures and presentations. Some of these will be kept on file at the Robinson Center for dissemination with teacher consent as appropriate;
- Preparation of student assessments to monitor student progress;
- Class preparation time as required;
- Communication with students and families;
- Collaboration with the Robinson Center Staff on dissemination of class activities;
- Other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in subject matter;
- At least two years teaching experience;
- Able to attend all class sessions and staff orientation;
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students at the Robinson Center.
Desired:
- Experience teaching academically advanced pre-K – 12th grade students.
Conditions of Employment:
- A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to employment;
- Must be available for all Saturday class dates for the quarter being applied to;
- Per UW policy, all employees must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
