Position Description:
The Robinson Center for Young Scholars is currently seeking temporary, hourly teaching aides to support summer program instructors in their daily classroom activities. The Robinson Center offers two summer programs. Summer Stretch is a 4-week summer program for students in 7th-10th grades This summer, Stretch will run July 5th-27th, Monday through Thursday (except for the first week, when it will run Wednesday, July 5th through Friday, July 7th, due to the July 4th holiday). Summer Challenge is a 3-week program for students in 5th and 6th grade (Mon-Fri, July 10th-28th). These programs offer highly capable students a fast-paced, challenging curriculum in varying subject matters. Class runs from 9am-2:20pm each day, and TAs should be prepared to be onsite from 8:30am-3pm.
The Summer Program Teaching Aide is required to attend an on campus orientation on Saturday, June 24th, and will assist the classroom teachers with all aspects of instruction and supervision. The teaching aide will report directly to the classroom teacher and be responsible for completing time sheets daily.
Duties may include but are not limited to assisting the teacher with the following:
- Facilitating small group conversations with students;
- Participating in classroom activities, evaluations and attendance taking;
- Documenting student work;
- Chaperoning class field trips both on and off campus;
- Contributing to student assessments and progress reports;
- Performing experiments or classroom demonstrations;
- Taking attendance promptly at the beginning of the day, monitoring student safety, and ensuring proper departure/pick-up protocols are followed;
- Providing notes to instructor(s) about student needs throughout the program;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Background in subject area;
- Ability to attend all class sessions and trainings/orientations;
- Applicants must be at least 15 years of age at start of the program;
- Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start of the program;
- A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to hire.

- Experience working with youth in an educational setting.
Hourly Pay:
- $18.69/hr
