Elizabeth Metelak

Elizabeth Metelak is the History instructor for the Early Entrance Program’s Transition School. She received her BA in History with a minor in Latin American Studies from California Polytechnic State University in 2012. After graduation, she earned her teaching certification through Teach for America, and began teaching at a college-prep high school in New Haven, Connecticut. She returned to school to study Russian and Eastern European History, specializing in 20th century Poland and Lithuania, with a particular focus on nationalism and identity. After earning her MA from Indiana University in 2016, she returned to teaching history at secondary schools in and around Santa Cruz, California, where she worked with students ranging from 8th to 12th grade. She has specialized in developing, modifying, and teaching curriculum for neurodiverse and college-prep education, including an intensive 11th and 12th grade Honors Research Practicum for US History.
