Congratulations to Rachel U. Mun and Sakhavat Mammadov on their first and second place Dissertation Awards from the National Association for Gifted Children! This award is a special honor “designed to recognize high-quality dissertations relevant in gifted education, creativity, and talent development.” Dr. Mun completed her Ph.D. at the University of Washington and co-authored the RC Alumni Study. Her dissertation was titled, “Parental expectations for Asian Americans who entered college early: Influences on their academic and career decision-making.”
Dr. Mammadov currently works with the Robinson Center as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. His dissertation, completed at The College of William and Mary, was entitled, “The Big Five personality predictors of academic achievement in gifted students: Mediation by self-regulatory efficacy and academic motivation.”
They will be giving their research presentations at the NAGC 2017 Annual Convention in Charlotte, NC in November. Congratulations to them both on this achievement!
