RC Program: EEP/Transition School

Graduating Class: 2010

Major: Pure Math, Slavic Languages and Literature

Discipline: Computer Science & Mathematics

Current Location: Cambridge, MA

Region: Midwest & Southern US

Current Job/Career:

I’m a PhD student in pure math at MIT. I study symplectic geometry, which is the geometry of dynamical systems such as the behavior of the Sun, Moon, and Earth under gravity. It has connections to lots of subfields of mathematics, like algebraic geometry and differential equations, and also to string theory. I’m applying for academic jobs right now, and eventually I want to be a math professor (=> 50% teaching, 50% research).

Graduate School:

(see above — after graduating from UW, I went to MIT for grad school)

Other Interests:

I like to hike and rock climb. Also I like basically all kinds of science.

If you could give yourself a superpower, what would it be?

Stay up all night and not get tired!
