Cristina Valensisi is honored to serve as the Director of Enrichment and Professional Development at the Robinson Center. Over her many years in scientific research, Cristina cultivated her interest in evidence-based teaching, leading her to graduate from the STEP (Science Teaching Experience for Postdocs) program at UW-Bothell. In 2019, she joined the Robinson Center as a Biology Instructor and instructional coordinator. Cristina is passionate about science education and is dedicated to fostering inclusive and student-centered pedagogy.
She earned her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy). Following that, she trained in Epigenomics and Stem Cell Biology, completing her postdoctoral studies at the Turku Center for Biotechnologies (Finland) and at the University of Washington in the Medical Genetics department.
Having moved to Seattle in 2013, Cristina embarked on a mission to discover the rich PNW culture. She loves cooking with her husband and kids, finding relaxation in her backyard, where she is learning to garden with native plants and wildlife.
