At the Robinson Center (RC), the safety and well-being of youth are our top priorities. Over the past several years, we have strengthened practices to ensure every young person can thrive in a safe, supportive learning environment.
Program Standards
- Every program has a Policy Guide and a Code of Conduct.
- These documents are shared with youth and must be signed by family members to ensure clear expectations are understood and upheld.
Staff Training & Development
- All staff follow:
- University of Washington Standards for Interacting with Youth
- Office of Civil Rights guidelines
- All additional required UW staff trainings
- Staff complete annual online training through the Office of Youth Protection Coordinator Youth Program Registration System (YPRS), which includes acknowledgement of codes of conduct, background checks, and related requirements.
- Staff also participate in ongoing monthly micro-trainings focused on specific safety and support topics.
Ongoing Commitment
- Monthly staff meetings include practical sessions where staff practice strategies for supporting youth in real scenarios.
- These sessions ensure our team is always learning, improving, and prioritizing youth safety.
