Andy Johnston

Andy Johnston is a Speech & Debate Instructor for Summer Stretch. He has a BA in History/Social Studies Teaching from Central Washington University and an MA in History from Western Washington University. During graduate studies, he worked part-time as a substitute teacher and as a teaching assistant for international school students. His research centered on cross-cultural experiences of Japanese, German, and Italian internees from Latin America during World War II. Over the past 3 years, he has taught high school classes including Current World Problems, Exploring Global Cultures, World History, and US History. For the past year, he has been teaching at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bellevue, teaching upper school students. He is licensed to teach in Washington, with specializations in History and Social Studies. Teaching has been his dream career since childhood, and he looks forward to learning and working with like-minded professionals and students! Beyond the classroom, he enjoys strength conditioning, hiking, video games, coffee, science fiction, and sending postcards.
