Working Title: Enrichment Saturday Classroom Aide (Temporary)

Pay Range Maximum: $26.84 hourly

Position Description

The Robinson Center for Young Scholars seeks temporary, hourly Classroom Aides (CA) to support the Enrichment Saturday programming during the 2026-2027 season.

About this Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Enrichment Program Director, the Saturday CAs report directly to the Enrichment Program Manager. Courses are offered on Saturday mornings at the University of Washington Seattle campus from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Each class lasts 1 or 2 hours, and CAs may be paired with up to 4 classes per Saturday. CAs will assist instructors with a variety of tasks related to organizing supplies, classroom management, and student supervision. CAs may also be assigned to assist with program setup and cleanup prior to the start of classes.

This is a temporary, hourly position and the CA is responsible for recording their hours bi-monthly in Workday.

The Saturday 2026-2027 session dates are as follows:

  • Pre-session planning and training
    • In-person orientation and professional development on September 12th
  • Fall Saturdays: September 26 to November 21 (9 days)
  • December Saturdays: December 5 and December 12 (2 days)
  • Winter Saturdays: January 9 to March 13 (9 days; no classes on February 13)
    • Virtual training on January 6th
  • Spring Saturdays: April 17 to June 12 (8 days; no classes on May 29)
    • Virtual training on April 14th
  • In addition to Saturday classes, CAs are also required to attend all orientation and professional development training.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support (40%):

  • Assisting Enrichment staff and instructors with daily set up and break down of classrooms and supplies
  • Assist with instructional activities, demonstrations, and hands-on projects as directed by the instructors
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Student Support and Supervision (60%):

  • Assisting Enrichment staff in the implementation of student support needs.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and model respectful, inclusive behavior
  • Supervise students and maintain a safe, structured classroom environment
  • Escorting students between campus locations during class changes and generally monitoring student safety
  • Taking attendance and promptly communicating with the Program Manager about student absences

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND Two years of clerical experience.

For these temporary classroom aide positions, all applicants, including current high school and college students, will be considered regardless of prior work experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to attend all class sessions, trainings and orientations
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assisting instructors in an educational setting
  • Experience working with neurodiverse learners
  • Experience working with K-8 youth in an educational setting
