RC Program: UW Academy

Graduating Class: 2009

Major: Evolutionary Ecology

Discipline: Medicine

Current Location: Seattle Area

Region: Seattle Area

Current Job/Career:

I’m a primary care nurse practitioner in community health and an activist!

Graduate School:

Seattle University, MSN in advanced practice nursing ARNP, FNP-C

Other Interests:

I am an activist and interested in supporting folx around how to integrate collective liberation work into their lives and career. It can be scary to begin work to undo racism, xenophobia, ableism, sexism, transphobia, sizeism, and others.

I am queer, non-binary, and trans and would love to support folx who have a gender non-conforming identity or are exploring their gender. Let’s build a future that is gender expansive, joyful, and liberated!

I am fat and disabled and chronically ill and would love to support folx around navigating the world with those identities. It can be hard to find internal strength and dignity and and joy and compassion when one is actively being pushed into the margins. All bodies, and all identities matter and are worthy of celebration!

RC students and community members can contact me for:

  • I’m here if you’re in or going into a high-paying or elite career and feeling kind of guilty or struggling with your privilege. I’m happy to walk with you in a path towards approaching this work with an anti-oppression lens. None of us is free until all of us are free.
  • I’m here for you if you are in or going into a nonprofit or service oriented career and feeling worried about “burning out“ or struggling to approach “social justice” work well. I’m happy to walk with you to build resilience, to learn to set aside a patronizing rescue mindset, and to help you find ways to undo institutionalized oppression. Si se puede!
  • I’m here for you if you can’t be out as your real gender in other places and you need someone to witness your truth. I’m here for you if you want to just talk about cool stuff around queerness. And I’m here for you if want to network with queer professionals or activists.
  • I’m here for you if you want to work together to build a future that is gender expansive, joyful, and liberated.
  • I’m here for you if you are fat or disabled or chronically ill and want some support around those identities that we share. We can swap stories, talk about strategies for surviving in an ableist and sizeist world, and network.
