How can I support my children as they grow academically, physically, and professionally? People learn and grow best when their interests and strengths are nurtured. Learn about understanding your children and encouraging them to be their best selves.
How do I talk to my college-aged child? Although the transition to college may imply more space and independence, strong family relationships continue to play a major role in your children's life. Parents can exchange methods of discussing both common and difficult topics with their young scholars.
How do different cultural and family expectations impact student views of success? Students may measure their own success based on academic performance, content learned in courses, social growth, or happiness. Parents can have open discussion to explore these issues.

This quarter’s parent programs will be based on Age of Opportunity: Lessons from the New Science of Adolescence by Dr. Laurence Steinberg. We will focus on the first five chapters, with an emphasis on brain and behavior development. We will discuss strategies and answer questions on how to best support our young scholars.
We will continue our discussion of Age of Opportunity, focusing on chapters six through ten, discussing how to support your adolescents as they develop higher-level skills, such as self-regulation and non-cognitive skills.
