What is Summer Challenge?
Summer Challenge is an academically advanced summer program for students who will have completed the 5th or 6th grade.
Summer Challenge provides highly motivated students with an intensive, hands-on, fun, and educational experience in areas outside of the traditional school curriculum.
The 2026 Challenge program runs for three weeks, five days a week from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Classes are held in person at the University of Washington Seattle campus. Classes are small and instructors are all specialists in their field.
Challenge will run from July 6th to July 24th, 2026.
There are no tests, students are not graded, and there is little homework; it’s all about delving deeply into a subject of interest!
To increase access and equity, we are moving to a lottery admissions process for Summer 2026
The Lottery for Summer Challenge 2026 opens February 1st at 4pm and closes February 14th at 4pm
Courses will be posted on the website by January 23rd
