This fall we have two new philosophy classes for young thinkers. Jordan Sherry-Wagner is teaching Ecological Philosophy for 2nd and 3rd graders. This class will be a space for collaborative investigation into increasingly relevant philosophical questions about our place in the natural world. What is important for a good life? What does it mean for something to be alive? This course follows student interests as the instructor and students work together to make sense of their roles, relationships, and responsibilities in the changing environmental landscape. In Practicing Philosophy, for kindergarteners and 1st graders, the course builds from the interests of the students as they work together to make sense of age-old questions, inconsistent situations, and personally relevant experiences. What does it mean to know something? What is the nature of personal identity? What is morality and where does it come from? These classes will be a space for collaborative investigation into timeless philosophical questions!
