Chance Sims has spent nearly twenty years as an independent school educator, specializing in school administration, curriculum development, and classroom instruction. He has held leadership roles at The Episcopal School of Los Angeles, The Branson School, The Northwest School, Trinity School, Georgetown Day School, and Lakeside School. Chance’s educational philosophy is grounded in critical and feminist pedagogical traditions and the conviction that learning is relational, emphasizing the importance of community in the educational journey. Accordingly, his leadership methods are teacher and student-centered, and focus on creating structures and relationships that promote a deep sense of interconnectedness between community and meaning-making. Chance holds an MA in Women Studies from the University of Washington, an MA in Historical Sociology and Social Movements from DePaul University, and a BS in Sociology from Willamette University. He lives on Bainbridge Island with his family, where he enjoys perfecting the art of making Neapolitan pizza, paddle boarding, and going on bike rides with his three kids.
