Frank Amofa Sarpong

Summer Enrichment Instructor
Frank Amofa Sarpong

Frank Amofa Sarpong (he/him) is a Predoctoral Instructor and a Ph.D. student in Language and Rhetoric at the Department of English, University of Washington, Seattle. With over nine years of teaching experience at all educational cycles/levels, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Communicative Skills, Critical Rhetoric, Discourse Analysis, and Genre Theory to his role as an Assistant Instructor for Speech and Debate. He believes that language moves, it bumps into ideas, images, cultures; it empowers, marginalizes, and can also be a tool for resistance. One of his core aims, then, is to empower students to see argumentation as a form of social action where they can negotiate meaning and identities while adopting a critical lens toward dominant discourses. Outside of teaching and academic work, he enjoys spending time with friends, often visiting parks and museums.
