Matt Stewart is a fourth-year doctoral student in the College of Education. He focuses on science education and how science teachers can work towards justice-centered and equitable classrooms. He has taught high school biology and physics for 11 years in Portland, OR, leading the science department in developing a new culturally relevant project-based curriculum. He has worked as an instructional coach for science teachers across the country to improve their practice. Currently, he coaches teachers in a research program focused on asset-based science instruction in language-rich classrooms.
