Mia Nelson

Summer Enrichment Instructor
Mia Nelson

Mia Nelson (she/her) is a PhD student and poet in the English Department at the University of Washington. She has a B.A. from Dartmouth College, and an M.A. from the University of Vermont, where she specialized in environmental literature and feminist studies. She’s taught elementary aged students at an outdoor farm school, first-year writing for the past three years at the university level, as well as conversational English in Spain with the Fulbright program. Her creative writing can be found in The American Poetry Review, Berkeley Poetry Review, and was longlisted for the National Poetry Competition in 2024. She loves helping students connect to their own creative voice and find ways to enliven and deepen connection to outdoor spaces through literature and experience––and can’t wait to do so this summer at the Robinson Center!
