|Challenging Advanced Learners using Hi-Cap Plus Professional Development Modules
Teachers are busy! What do they really need to best adapt their curriculum and provide a learning environment that maximizes students' growth and potential and strengths? We will share research-based on-line teaching modules, funded and supported by the Hi-Cap Plus Grant from OSPI, that focus on the essential elements of gifted education: classroom environment, adapting curriculum, assessment, inquiry-based instruction, and eliciting creative productivity. Teachers will learn how to organize their environment for differentiation, assess ongoing learning needs, adapt curriculum for depth and complexity, and engage students in creative and critical thinking through inquiry approaches. Most importantly, the presenter will share how these on-line professional development modules may be facilitated and used by any teacher, gifted education coordinator, or administrator to further equity and enhance instruction for all learners in their districts.

|Differentiating for Highly Capable Students in K-3 General Education Classrooms
This two-day workshop will focus on the mindset and strategies that teachers need to challenge young children in grades K-3. Specifically, teachers will be introduced to the Project Approach, a process that empowers students to pursue answers to their own questions, and engages students in first-hand investigations. In addition, teachers will be given specific strategies to structure their classrooms to facilitate differentiation in their classrooms. Participants will leave this workshop with planning tools to implement in their classrooms entering Fall 2020.
